You may book all these activities in a private form and also duration of each activity can be tailored to your needs. Please book in advance.
Our Husky farm is situated just across the road from the hotel and is home to about 250 eager huskies ready to take you on an unforgettable journey through breathtaking winter scenery.
On arrival we will provide you with a warm outer thermal suit, gloves and hat and then we will present your very own Husky team. You will be given a lesson on how to drive the sledge and how to observe important hand signals given by your leader. Each team consists of about six dogs, you the driver and your passenger, who is comfortably seated in the wooden sledge. The driver and the passenger can change places at any time during the safari.
You can choose from a shorter Husky safari, which lasts two hours and during which you will be served a hot drink, or a longer one, which lasts for four hours and includes a lunch served over an open fire in a wooden teepee.
Our snowmobile safari takes place in the ski village of Saariselkä situated some 10 kms away. Safari begins with a private transfer by car from the hotel to the safari office, where you will receive full equipment including thermal suit, boots, socks, gloves, balaclava and helmet, followed by an all-important lesson on driving a snowmobile and safety information. Safari trail begins with a drive up to the beautiful Kaunispää fell, 436m above sea level, opening up the most stunning views over the surrounding area. After which the trail then continues through the beautifully quiet winter forest. The safari comes in two different flavors: a 2 hours safari including a coffee break or 4 hours one including a lunch cooked over open fire in a wilderness hut. Two persons can share one snowmobile and take turns in driving or you can request solo driving at a supplementary cost.
Reindeer safari is a relaxing experience, in which you peacefully glide through the magical winter forest pulled by your very own reindeer. We pick you up from the hotel by car and drive to the reindeer farm, where all necessary equipment will be provided. This safari requires no skills and the reindeer will do all the work for you as you comfortably relax in your own sleigh.
You can take a short safari lasting 2 hours including a short break for coffee or a longer one which lasts for 4 hours and includes a hot lunch in a reindeer herdsman’s hut. This safari gives you a wonderful opportunity to learn all about the Sami people, their traditions and way of life. This is something not to be overlooked.
Ice fishing is a truly Finnish experience. Combined with a visit to the Sami museum in Inari, it will give you a day full of exceptional experiences. In the morning just after breakfast at the hotel, you will be picked up by a private car for the journey to the small village of Inari, lying on the lake bearing the same name. On arrival in Inari we take a snowmobile drive onto the lake, where weather conditions will guide us to the best fishing spot. Our guide will drill a hole in the ice and guide you on how ice fishing is done. Lunch will be served over open fire. Also any catch may be kept and the hotel’s chef will be happy to cook it for you if you wish so.
When the fishing is over you continue by snowmobile to the wilderness church at Pielpajärvi, which is situated about 10km away. After a visit to the church we continue to the Sami museum in Inari. The museum will give you a very good insight into the life of the Sami people, both past and present. After the visit to the museum we will return to the hotel. An English-speaking guide will accompany you throughout the trip.
The Sampo, the world’s only tourist icebreaker, operates on the northern Gulf of from the middle of December to the end of April. After serving for thirty years as an icebreaker in Arctic waters, the vessel has been given a fresh task to act as a base for ice adventurers. The frozen Arctic landscape, the winter darkness, the crackling frost and the crystal clear starry skies illuminated by Aurora Borealis offer visitors a unique experience in the midst of untamed nature. A whole day excursion includes a visit to Santa Claus at the Santa Claus Village and the crossing of the Arctic Circle.
