Winter is time for cross-country skiing, snowboarding and mountain-skiing. Or if you are up for something exotic, you may always try ice swimming and walking in show shoes in deep untouched snow. In Kakslauttanen we offer all these and many other winter activities.
Under the ice water always stays over the freezing temperature. This is nature's ingenious way of keeping aquatic flora and fauna alive even in the winter. In Lapland people have taken advantage of this since the beginning of time and there is nothing more relaxing than to dive into an ice-hole. It has been also proven that ice swimming has healthy effects on your body, that's why many locals dive into icy cold water on a regular basis.
We provide an opportunity to try this truly arctic experience. There is always an ice hole ready in the river crossing Kakslauttanen and anybody is free to use it. Go ahead and try it - with or without the sauna!
Ice and snow curving is an exciting way to find an artist within you. Guided by our English-speaking instructor everybody will be able to make very beautiful sculptures. The duration of a session is approximately two hours and the session includes guided instructions and a tour of Igloo Village (with a complimentary hot drink). It is a lot of fun for the whole family or a group!
Ice karting is a fun motor sport suited for everyone. The full driving gear guarantees that you will not be cold while speeding away. In fact, with the challenging track and the feisty go-karts you are more likely to be hot. There are no age limits but the driver must be tall enough (approx. 150 cm) to reach the pedals. You can either drive at your own pace or take part in a playful contest. The high-performance cars with studded tyres ensure that even the most daring of drivers can test their limits and see how hard the snowbanks are.
